History:
(Amazing Spider-Man I#193) - Sandy met with Daily Globe publisher
Barney Bushkin to discuss freelance photographer Peter Parker. Bushkin
told Sandy that K.J. Clayton had chosen a new assignment for Parker and
wanted her to wait at Peter's apartment to inform him.
(Spectacular Spider-Man II#43) - Peter came by the Daily Globe and began to compliment Sandy. This made Sandy suspicious, noting that in her experience, photographers didn't pay compliments unless they wanted something. She cautioned him that she wouldn't model for him if that was what he wanted. Instead, Peter asked if Sandy knew anything about fashion mogul Roderick Kingsley and whether he had any enemies. Sandy informed Peter that Kingsley had made many enemies for himself within his industry, such as when he drove a European cosmetics firm out of business the previous year. She told Peter that a photographer was needed for a fashion show that Kingsley was putting on but none of their photographers were willing to take the assignment due to Kingsley's past behavior towards them. Peter happily accepted the assignment from Sandy so that he could continue his investigation. Sandy doubted that Bushkin would be happy to hear Peter was working on a fashion show.
(Spectacular Spider-Man II#48 - BTS) - Peter telephoned Sandy to ask for information about Desiree Vaughn-Pope. Sandy told him she was a professional rival of Roderick Kingsley. This led Peter to assume that Desiree was the villain Belladonna because she had been targeting Kingsley's business.
(Amazing Spider-Man I#209) - Sandy attended a meeting at the Daily Globe with Bushkin, Rupert Dockery and Peter Parker. Dockery asked Peter to bring him photographs of "hanky panky" between professors and students at Empire State University, hinting that he wanted Peter to invent the photos himself. Peter refused the assignment, ending his time at the Daily Globe.

"Sandy" might be a nickname for Sandra.
Weirdly, we never did see Sandy and Peter meet for the first time - probably because Marv Wolfman was a wee bit confused. After Bushkin told Sandy to meet Peter at his home in Amazing Spider-Man I#193, the story was picked up in (of all places) Fantastic Four I#207 in which Peter came to the Daily Globe of his own volition and found Bushkin eager to hire him. So there was really no point to Sandy's first appearance other than to establish she existed.
