History:
(Uncanny X-Men I#155 (fb) - BTS) -
Hoping to take out her sister Lilandra and establish herself as the
ruler of the Shi'ar, Deathbird struck an alliance with clan-master
Kam'n'ehar of the Brood. Lilandra was kidnapped and held aboard his
ship, while the turncoat Shi'ar admiral Samedar convinced the military
she was being held on Earth. Deathbird hoped this would lead to the
Shi'ar military to either devastate or destroy the world and its
heroes that had humiliated her on numerous occasions. Staying on board
his clanship, Kam'n'ehar tasked Skur'kll and several other Brood
warriors to accompany Deathbird on her mission to New York to ambush
Lilandra's lover Charles Xavier and his X-Men. In the fight that
followed, Charles Xavier was abducted.
(Uncanny X-Men I#156 - BTS) - With both Xavier and Lilandra imprisoned
on his vessel, Kam'n'ehar was feeling confident when the Brood
encountered the Starjammer in space. Ordering his sentient ship to
gobble up the infamous starship, he ordered his shock troopers to board
the craft.
(Uncanny X-Men I#156) - The X-Men and the
Starjammers put up heavy resistance, causing massive damage to the
clanship that writhed in pain. Clan-master Kamn'e'har ordered his
second-in-command Haeg'rill to establish a zero gravity environment in
the combat zone, figuring it would hamper their opponents'
effectiveness.
(Uncanny X-Men I#156 - BTS) - Despite the anti-gravity countermeasures,
the X-Men and the Starjammers tore a swath through the Brood troops
while rescuing Lilandra and Xavier. The ship endured even greater trauma
when the Starjammer blasted its way free from inside the clanship. The
crippled craft was dead in space while the heroes sped to safety.
(Uncanny X-Men I#157) - In the aftermath of the X-Men's daring escape
from his vessel, a furious Kam'n'ehar ordered Haeg'rill to bring
Deathbird before him. The fierce Shi'ar managed to hold her own against
a cadre of Brood warriors, even though they did succeed in delivering
her to the clan-master. Kam'n'ehar shared his intense displeasure over
their losses with the still defiant Deathbird who agreed to a temporary
truce. Looking for ways to survive the Brood's impending wrath,
Deathbird produced a data module containing detailed information on the
X-Men's genetic structures. Kam'n'ehar was fascinated by the
possibilities of their mutant nature. Realizing they would make
excellent breeders for the Brood Mother, he agreed to allow Deathbird to
capture the X-Men.
(Uncanny X-Men I#161 - BTS) - Biding her time until the X-Men could be
caught off guard, Deathbird learned of a banquet thrown in their honor
by Lilandra aboard her imperial flagship Z'reee Shar. Using her
influence, Deathbird got Kam'n'ehar and his men on board while also
planting a stasis bomb underneath the banquet hall's dining room table.
(Uncanny X-Men I#161) - In the middle of dinner, Deathbird startled the
X-Men and set off the bomb, instantly knocking out both the mutants and
Lilandra. Kam'n'ehar and his forces arrived to claim them, announcing
that they would serve the Brood as host-forms for the spawn of their
blessed ruler, the 'mother-of-us-all'.
Comments: Created by Chris Claremont, Dave Cockrum,
Bob Wiacek
It's not unthinkable Kam'n'ehar attended the implantation ceremony seen
in Uncanny X-Men I#162, but those proceedings were shown as
parts of Wolverine's hazy, befuddled memories so it's impossible to
determine whether or not the clan-master was there as one of Logan's
hallucinations.
Kam'n'ehar's final fate remains unrevealed. It's possible he survived the destruction of Sleazeworld and the numerous other tragedies that befell the Brood over the years. In one panel in Uncanny X-Men I#161 the clan-master's name is spelled 'Kam'n'éhàr', thought that might simply be to emphasize a difference in pronunciation.
