Base of Operations: Formerly Castle
Tarnala in the
Forbidden Asteroids at the far edge of the Andromeda Galaxy
First Appearance: New Avengers IV#3 (January,
2016)
History:
(New Avengers IV#4 (fb)) - During the Kree-Skrull War, Skrull General
Ryga'a
and Kree General Soh-Larr
met on the planet Xaccus
to fight to the death, only to
find love blooming between them. Escaping the war, the two soon had a
child, the first to be born of both Kree and Skrull, and they named the
child Dorrek Supreme.
Inheriting the sword Excelsior, created by the
merger of his parents' ancestral swords, Dorrek Supreme began gathering
exiled Kree/Skrull hybrids like himself and organized them into the
heroic Knights of the Infinite, an order dedicated to the uniting the
Kree and Skrull Empires.
(New Avengers IV#3 (fb) - BTS) - The prophecies of the aged Knight M'ryn the Magus foretold the fall of both of the Kree and Skrull alien empires and that the two empires must evolve or perish. He also foretold that the two empires would continue to need those of hybrid Kree and Skrull backgrounds to unify and protect the two empires and that a king would unite the two. M'ryn's prophecy also foretold that the day a hybrid Skrull/Kree hero took the throne of both empires would also be the day M'ryn died but he kept that part of his prophecy a secret from the other Knights in an attempt to postpone his own death.
(New Avengers IV#4 (fb) - BTS) - Hunted as genetic
dissidents by both the Kree and the Skrull, the Knights of the Infinite
took up residence in Castle Tarnala within the Forbidden Asteroids and
attempted to simply live their lives. Over time, following the failed
Skrull Secret Invasion of Earth, the Builder War and the Kree home
planet Hala's destruction, the Knights of the Infinite began to believe
M'ryn's prophecies that the two empires must be brought together or
risk the two dying separately.
(New Avengers IV#3) - The Knights of the Infinite convened at their base in Castle Tarnala, where both Lan-Zarr and K'kyy suggested the impending downfall of both the Kree and the Skull Empires. Their elder, M'ryn, disagreed, but K'kyy reminded him of his past prophecies that the two empires must evolve or perish and how the hybrid Kree/Skrulls had to unify the two races with the help of their best, their once and future king. Referring to a statue of an hybrid Kree/Skrull king, Lan-Zarr remarked that the Kree/Skrull hybrid Hulkling of Earth had come of age and how both the individual Kree and Skrull Empires had already attempted to recruit him. M'ryn insisted that Hulkling was not yet ready to lead and, when Lan-Zarr reminded M'ryn that Hulkling was already a hero on his own world, Earth, M'ryn reiterated that Hulkling was not yet ready and ordered the rest of the Knights of the Infinite to leave to attend to their duties.
The Knights
reluctantly departed but warned M'ryn that Hulkling's ascension to the
throne would not wait forever. Once the other Knights had left, M'ryn
was contacted by the ancient being Moridun, who reminded M'ryn about
the part of the prophecy that involved M'ryn's death. Moridun then fed
off the magic in M'ryn's body, merging with the mage and commenting
that M'ryn should be happy in his death, for it meant his prophecy of
the Kree/Skrull hybrid king would come for his throne and the Knights.
Unaware that M'ryn's body was now housing Moridun, his daughter
Mur-G'nn took M'ryn's place among the Knights of the Infinite, having
been training in the ways of her father's magic birth, and the Knights
were sent by M'ryn/Moridun to Earth to find Hulkling.
Not long after, the Knights of the Infinite used a combination of science and magic to get past Earth's safeguards to arrive on Avengers Island, where they asked for Hulkling to be turned over to them so that he could fulfill his destiny. Mistaking the Knights' appearance as an attack, the New Avenger Pod fired on the Knights' ship, severely damaging it as the Knights struggled to control the ship and, unable to communicate with the New Avengers due to their now-damaged communications array, the Knights opted to simply kidnap Hulkling instead. Lan-Zarr then ordered Mur-G'nn to teleport Hulkling to them and, when Wiccan failed to stop Mur-G'nn's spell, he cast a spell that brought him to the Knights alongside Hulkling. The damaged Knights of the Infinite ship then flew off, leaving the New Avengers to plan a rescue.
Taking Hulkling and Wiccan to the Forbidden Asteroids on the edge of the Andromeda Galaxy, the Knights of the Infinite provided them with oxygen helmets and promised Hulkling that if they were wrong about their prophecy of him being king, they would return him to his home on Earth. Hulkling asked what would happen if they were right about their prophecy, to which Lan-Zarr replied that Hulkling would already be home. Mur-G'nn used her own magic to prevent Wiccan from concentrating enough to fight them, and Lan-Zarr interrupted a conversation between Mur-G'nn and K'kyy about Wiccan's powers to announce that the time of testing for Hulkling had arrived. Lan-Zarr then led Hulkling to the Light of Truth, revealing that, if Hulkling was worthy, he would find his destiny within the Light, warning that searing agony awaited him if Hulkling were not worthy. While Lan-Zarr monologued about the prophecies, Hulkling reached into the Light and pulled out the sword Excelsior, proving him to be the Knights' liege. The Knights of the Infinite immediately bowed to a confused Hulkling, and Wiccan whispered that it appeared Hulkling had become "King of Space."
(New Avengers IV#4) - As the Knights (and Hulkling
and Wiccan) traveled across the Forbidden Asteroids, Lan-Zarr explained
the origins of the Knights of the Infinite to an uninterested Hulkling.
When the Knights landed at Castle Tarnala, an impressed Wiccan asked
how many lived in the Castle, and Lan-Zarr informed him that seven total
lived there. Wiccan replied in surprise that only seven lived there, but
Mur-G'nn interjected, explaining that life was short when one was being
hunted as genetic dissidents by two different interstellar empires.
After Lan-Zarr explained how the Knights had originally wished to just
continue living and how they came to believe that the Kree and Skrull
Empires had to be united, Hulkling asked where he came into their
picture. Revealing that Hulkling was the first Kree/Skrull hybrid to be
born in thousands of years, Lan-Zarr further commented that, while the
Kree and Skrull Empires had already attempted to defuse Hulkling as a
symbol of unity, Hulkling's taking of the Excelsior sword proved that
he was the reincarnation of Dorrek Supreme, one that would bring love
to war. Skeptical that he could be a king, Hulkling asked who
determined his status and K'kyy replied that their mage M'ryn had said
so. She then opened a door to introduce M'ryn to Hulkling and Wiccan,
only to find the Moridun-possessed M'ryn devouring the souls of the
Knight Varra and another Castle resident.
Lan-Zarr demanded to know what M'ryn was doing, and
Mur-G'nn was shocked to see her father in such a state. When
M'ryn/Moridun commented that he was almost done and the Knights should
wait their turn, Hulkling attacked M'ryn/Moridun, forcing him to drop
his victims. Lan-Zarr quickly noticed that Varra still lived and
ordered Wiccan to help her. Introducing himself and revealing his true
form, Moridun gloated on how he had seen M'ryn's prophecies and
arranged for Hulkling to be brought there. As Wiccan healed Varra,
saving her life, Moridun attacked Wiccan but had one of his tentacles
cut off by Hulkling. K'kyy followed up with a photon blast but Moridun
caught the blast in mid-air and grew to gigantic size, busting his way
out of Castle Tarnala as the New Avengers arrived on the scene, having
tracked the Knights' ship there to rescue their teammates Hulkling and
Wiccan. The Knights helped get their own to safety as the New Avengers
helped distract Moridun long enough for Hulkling to use the Excelsior
sword to seemingly destroy the creature.
As Hulkling admitted that he wished to help the Knights of the Infinite, Lan-Zarr interrupted,
explaining that he understood Hulkling had a duty to his friends. He
then reminded Hulkling that when the time came, the Knights of the
Infinite would fight at Hulkling's side. Hulkling then expressed
concern and wondered why Moridun had arranged Hulkling to be brought
there, knowing that the Excelsior sword would harm him. K'kyy replied
with the suggestion that perhaps Moridun wished to gain Excelsoir's
power for his own, unaware that Moridun had actually taken possession
of Wiccan.
(Lords of Empyre: Emperor Hulkling#1 - BTS/Empyre Handbook#1 - Skrulls entry - BTS) - Many months later, the work of the Knights of the Infinite came to fruition when Hulkling agreed to become the leader of a unified Skrull and Kree alliance. While assuming the throne, Hulkling's royal guard was introduced to him, including Kree liegeman Captain Glory and Mur-G'nn, representative of the Knights of the Infinite.
(Empyre Aftermath: Avengers#1 (fb)) - The Knights of the Infinite (Mur-G'nn, Varra, K'kyy and Lan-Zarr) all attended the outer space wedding of the newly-crowned Emperor Hulkling and his groom, Wiccan. During the reception, the Knights all mingled with one another.
(Guardians of the Galaxy VI#16 - BTS) - When the Super-Skrull Kl'rt reported to Hulkling and Wiccan on the planet Hala of an attack on the planet Skrullos, Wiccan mentioned to Kl'rt that they had their own problems on Hala and he suggested sending the Knights of the Infinite to Skrullos before Hulkling interrupted to remind Wiccan that he had to set an example of not playing favorites between the Kree and the Skrull. Realizing Hulkling was right, Wiccan agreed to gather the Knights of the Infinite and rendezvous with their troops already on Skrullos. Wiccan then cast a spell to allow him to gather the Knights together and teleport away, saying goodbye to Hulkling before leaving.
(S.W.O.R.D. II#7 - BTS) - While battling the mystic Dormammu's Mindless Ones on Hala, Hulkling asked his soldier, Corp. Enn-Lar if there had been any word from Wiccan, and Enn-Lar replied that Wiccan had reported in that both he and the Knights of the Infinite were holding the line on Skrullos with minimal casualties.
(Last Annihilation: Wiccan & Hulkling#1) - The
Knights of the Infinite continued fighting alongside Wiccan and the
soldiers of the Kree/Skrull Alliance against the Mindless Ones of the
Dark Dimension on Skrullos. As they fought, the S.W.O.R.D. teleported
into the battle to assist Wiccan and the Knights, revealing that
Hulkling's Excelsior had been broken at Hala.
Comments: Created by Al Ewing and Gerardo Sandoval.
Each of the Knights of the Infinite appear to be pastiches of legendary Arthurian characters. For example, M'ryn=Merlin, K'kyy=(Sir) Kay, Lan-Zarr=(Sir) Lancelot and Mur-G'nn=Morgan (le Fay). Even the sword Excelsior is a similar name to King Arthur's sword, Excalibur.
The online Marvel Database wiki site lists Castle Tarnala and the Forbidden Asteroids as appearing in a flashback in New Avengers IV#6 but I could find no flashback showing either. Unless I'm missing it, the only flashback I see in that issue shows Moridun's face up close and nothing else.
A being looking extremely close to being
M'yrn appears fighting alongside Wiccan in Last Annihilation: Wiccan
& Hulkling#1 but it can't possibly be M'ryn, as it was confirmed in
New Avengers IV#3 that M'ryn was killed when Moridun took possession of
M'yrn's body. I guess in this instance, it would be a Skrull
impersonating M'yrn for some reason, especially since later in the same
issue
(Last Annihilation: Wiccan & Hulkling#1), Mur-G'nn states plainly
to Wiccan that her father was killed, devoured from the inside out by
Moridun.
Profile by Proto-Man.
CLARIFICATIONS:
The Knights of the Infinite have no known connections to:
Castle Tarnala, located in the Forbidden Asteroids area of the far edge of the Andromeda Galaxy, served as the headquarters for the Knights of the Infinite, their families and any other refugee Kree/Skrull hybrids that wished to join the Knights' cause. When the time of the Kree/Skrull king loomed near, the Knights met with M'ryn the Magus inside Castle Tarnala and discussed their impending king, Hulkling, who resided on Earth. Shortly after, the ancient sorcerer Moridun killed M'ryn and took possession of his body, ordering the Knights to retrieve Hulkling. After absconding from Earth with the captured Hulkling, the Knights returned to Castle Tarnala to find the possessed M'ryn, and the Knights teamed with Hulkling and his boyfriend Wiccan against Moridun.
During the battle, Moridun grew to gigantic size, busting his way through the Castle and destroying it.
--New Avengers IV#3 (#4d,
Dorrek Supreme was the first Kree/Skrull hybrid to be born, son of the Kree Soh-Larr and Skrull Ryga'a. As he came of age, Dorrek Supreme inherited the swords of his parents, which he merged together into the single sword Excelsior, and he soon began gathering together other Kree/Skrull hybrids, eventually forming the Knights of the Infinite, an organization dedicated to uniting the Kree and Skrull Empires. Dorrek Supreme eventually became king of the Knights of the Infinite. In the years following Dorrek Supreme's death, the Knights of the Infinite became convinced that Dorrek Supreme would be reincarnated as the Kree/Skrull hybrid's next king, destined to unite the two Empires. As the time for their new king loomed, the Knights began to believe that the Kree/Skrull hybrid Hulkling, who was a superhero on Earth, was Dorrek Supreme reincarnated, and they sought him out as their new king. Believing as such, the Knights occasionally referred to Hulkling by the Dorrek Supreme name.
Dorrek Supreme wielded the extremely powerful and mystic sword Excelsior.
The Forbidden Asteroids was an area on the far edge of the Andromeda Galaxy where the Knights of the Infinite headquarters themselves inside the Castle Tarnala. After kidnapping their proposed king Hulkling and his boyfriend Wiccan from Earth, the Knights traveled back to the Forbidden Asteroids and revealed Castle Tarnala to their captives. Finding the Knight M'yrn the Magus possessed by the sorcerer Moridun, the Knights teamed with Hulkling and Wiccan against Moridun and, as the battle progressed, Hulkling's New Avengers teammates arrived at the Forbidden Asteroids on a rescue mission, only to end up teaming up with the Knights as well against Moridun.
K'kyy was the pink-skinned paladin of the Knights of the Infinite.
After meeting with M'yrn the Magus, K'kyy later accompanied the Knights to Earth, where a misunderstanding between the Knights and the New Avengers resulted in the Knights of the Infinite kidnapping their proposed king and New Avengers member Hulkling and his boyfriend Wiccan. K'kyy then accompanied the Knights back to Castle Tarnala, where they discovered the Moridun-possessed M'yrn feeding on the Knight Varra and other residents of the Castle. Engaging the ancient sorcerer, the Knights saved the life of Varra, and K'kyy assisted in the battle against Moridun, who was ultimately banished by Hulkling wielding the mystic Excelsior sword. K'kyy later attended the outer space wedding of Hulkling and Wiccan and later still accompanied the Knights against Dormammu's Mindless Ones when they attacked the Skrull home planet of Skrullos.
Due to her hybrid Kree and Skrull genes, K'kyy is capable of limited shapeshifting such as growing wings to allow flight in battle. She can also project energy blasts from her hands, and she is an accomplished fighter.
--New Avengers IV#3 (#4, Empyre Aftermath: Avengers#1 (fb), Guardians of the Galaxy VI#16 - BTS, S.W.O.R.D. II#7 - BTS, Last Annihilation: Hulkling & Wiccan#1,Lan-Zarr was the blue-skinned de facto field leader of the Knights of the Infinite.
Completely believing M'yrn the Magus'
prophecies that the Knights' former king Dorrek Supreme would be
reincarnated in another form, Lan-Zarr awaited the day that the next
king would be revealed. Suspecting the Kree/Skrull hybrid hero Hulkling
to be the Knights' new king, Lan-Zarr and the other Knights met with
M'yrn, who tried to convince the other Knights to give Hulkling more
time. Shortly thereafter, M'yrn was killed and impersonated by the ancient
sorcerer Moridun, who ordered Lan-Zarr and the Knights to bring
Hulkling to Castle Tarnala. Traveling to Earth, Lan-Zarr and the
Knights were caught up in a misunderstanding involving Hulkling's
teammates in the New Avengers, and the Knights ultimately kidnapped
Hulkling to bring him back to Tarnala. Along the way and upon arriving,
Lan-Zarr revealed to Hulkling the history of the Knights of the
Infinite and Hulkling's prophesied role as king. After leading Hulkling
to acquire the mystic Excelsior sword, which the Knights believed
proved Hulkling's destiny as king, Lan-Zarr and the other Knights
pledged their allegiance to Hulkling and led him to meet M'yrn the
Magus, who was revealed as Moridun when the Knights caught him feeding
on the Castle residents. Lan-Zarr, the Knights, Hulkling and Hulkling's
boyfriend Wiccan engaged Moridun and the New Avengers arrived shortly
after to assist in the battle until Hulkling managed to banish Moridun
using the Excelsior sword. Following the battle, Lan-Zarr understood
that Hulkling had remaining duties to his friends on Earth but he
promised to always be ready to aid Hulkling at a moment's notice. After
Hulkling later accepted his role at king of the Kree/Skrull Alliance,
Lan-Zar attended the wedding of Hulkling and Wiccan and later joined
Wiccan with the other Knights of the Infinite to help repel Dormammu's
Mindless Ones from the Skrull home planet of Skrullos.
Due to his hybrid Kree/Skrull nature, Lan-Zarr
possessed attributes typical of a Kree including enhanced strength and
durability. He was also an extremely accomplished fighter.
M'yrn the Magus was an elder Knight of the Infinite and father to Mur-G'nn. Over time, M'yrn prophesied that the separate Kree and Skrull Empires would fall, and the remnants would be united together under the rule of a new king, a Kree/Skrull hybrid and supposedly the reincarnation of the Knights of the Infinite's original king, Dorrek Supreme. Secretly keeping part of his prophecy a secret, the part that foretold that, on the day their king assumed the throne, M'yrn would die, M'yrn nonetheless helped lead the Knights as they hid from their enemies inside Castle Tarnala and trained his daughter Mur-G'nn in the old ways of magic. When the time of their new king approached, the Knights met with M'yrn, who attempted to delay the Knights finding the new king in a secret effort to prolong his own life, but M'yrn was soon possessed by the ancient sorcerer Moridun, who devoured M'yrn's body from the inside out and assumed his form.
In M'yrn's form, Moridun ordered the Knights to bring their proposed king, the Earth hero and Skrull/Kree hybrid Hulkling, to Castle Tarnala and while the Knights were away, Moridun began killing the remaining populace of Castle Tarnala in an effort to boost his own power. Arriving back at Castle Tarnala to find Moridun/M'yrn feeding on the Knight Varra and others, the Knights attacked Moridun with the help of Hulkling and his boyfriend Wiccan. During the battle, Moridun ultimately burned out M'yrn's corpse and fought the heroes in his own gigantic form until Hulkling banished Moridun using his newly-obtained Excelsior sword.
M'yrn the Magus was extremely skilled in the ways of Kree and Skrull magic. He also possessed somewhat limited precognition.
--New Avengers IV#3 (#4 - BTS,Ryga'a was the War Queen of the Skrulls during the Kree-Skrull War, trained from birth to meet, fight and kill her counterpart from the Kree Empire. However, when Ryga'a met her counterpart, the ultra-warrior Kree Soh-Larr on the planet Xaccus, the two fell in love on the battlefield. Deserting the war, the two went into hiding and had a child, the first known Kree/Skrull hybrid, which they named Dorrek Supreme after the leaders of both empires. As Dorrek Supreme grew to adulthood, he inherited the ancestral swords of both his parents and mystically merged them into the sword Excelsior.
Ryga'a wielded a sword in battle.

Soh-Larr wielded a sword in battle.
Varra was a green-skinned member of the Knights of the Infinite who remained at Castle Tarnala when Lan-Zarr, K'kyy and Mur-G'nn went to Earth to retrieve the Kree/Skrull hybrid hero Hulkling. While the other Knights were away, Varra and several other Castle Tarnala residents were attacked by the ancient sorcerer Moridun, who was possessing the corpse of the Knight M'yrn the Magus. The other Knights, Hulkling and Hulkling's boyfriend Wiccan soon returned to Castle Tarnala to find Moridun devouring the life forces of Varra and the other residents. The Knights and the two Earth heroes immediately attacked Moridun, who dropped the nearly-dead Varra. While the other heroes battled Moridun, Wiccan used his magic abilities to stabilize and heal Varra, ultimately bringing her back from the brink of death. Moridun eventually grew to gigantic size, busting through Castle Tarnala, and Varra was flighted to safety by the shapeshifting Knight K'kyy. Varra later attended the outer space wedding of Hulkling and Wiccan and later still accompanied the other Knights of the Infinite against Dormammu's invading Mindless Ones on the planet Skrullos.
