History:
(Marvel Mystery Comics I#46 (fb) - BTS) - Pete Porker
enjoyed life in Barnyard Valley, a rural province of the Land of Nowhere
bordering on Earth-616. The inhabitants of the Valley were frequently
threatened by the Germs and the Jeeper, a vicious tractor.
(Marvel Mystery Comics I#46) - On one of his trips to Earth-616, Pete
encountered young James 'Jimmy' Jankovicz who mistook him for one of the
ordinary pigs on his family's farm. When Jimmy failed to catch Pete, he
struck up a conversation with the perplexed lad and even took him on his
back for a visit to Barnyard Valley.
(Marvel Mystery Comics I#46) - Their first stop was the
Milk Factory where Pete introduced Jimmy to one of the bulldog guards
stationed outside to defend the facility. Moments later a swarm of Germs
and Microbes attempted to storm the plant. Jimmy and Peter watched the
Bulldogs beat the bugs back using ultra-violet ray flashlights. After
the attack, he took the impressed boy to Hayloft Castle where they were
granted an audience with the king and queen who were charmed by the
young human.
(Marvel Mystery Comics I#46) - The visit was cut short when the palace
guards alerted the royals that the Jeeper had arrived. Pete and the king
and queen were in tears, fearing for their very lives. However, Jimmy
recognized the Jeeper for what it was: a farm tractor, not unlike the
one his father had taught him to drive. Porker watched Jimmy risk his
life mounting the tractor to get at its controls, eventually managing to
get it under control. In celebration, Pete hoisted Jimmy on his
shoulders even as the crowds cheered him on.
((Marvel Mystery Comics I#46 - BTS) - Right in the middle of his victory
celebration, before the king could officially name him 'knight of
neigh', Jimmy Jupiter woke up, figuring his recent trip to Nowhere was
another one of his very real dreams.
Comments: Created by Ed Robbins.
For decades the adventures of Jimmy Jupiter were considered little more than the result of a schoolboy's overactive imagination. However, a storyline in 2011's Captain America VI#3 established that even as a young boy he has the power to transport himself to The Land of Nowhere, a parallel world which he could shape with his own imagination. It's impossible to determine to what degree Jupiter's (sub)conscious mind shaped the realm and its denizens. Maybe Pete Porker and the other inhabitants of Barnyard Valley existed before Jimmy showed up, maybe they didn't. And what happened to them after he left? That's a level of existential dread his creator Ed Robbins probably didn't have in mind back in 1942.
