History:
(What The--?!#3/6 (fb) - BTS) - Burgess was the perky penguin pet of Bobby Drake, a.k.a. Iceman, and in his alter ego as Polar Penguin had been trained to help his master fight evil mutants by sliding along Iceman's slides to smash into them like a giant curling stone, then peck them into submission.

(What The--?!#3/6) - Polar Penguin helped Iceman battle Mesmero, ramming into the villain's rear and knocking him off his feet.

   Polar Penguin's civilian identity of Burgess is presumably a nod to actor Burgess Meredith, who played the Penguin in the 1960s Batman TV show.

   Though it's improbable given we've never heard of Polar Penguin in other stories, it's not utterly impossible that Earth-616 (mainstream Marvel universe) Iceman could have briefly had a penguin as a pet. However, it's more likely that Polar Penguin belongs to the Iceman of another, sillier reality. However, it's unlikely that this reality is Earth-9047, where a lot of the parody stories in What The--?! are set, since the Iceman of that reality has a slightly different codename, N'iceman.

   His height was calculated by comparing him to Mesmero, who he is seen next to. After that, it was a matter of looking up average heights for penguin species to find one in the right height range - King Penguins looked a possible candidate - and checking out their weight range.

   This profile was completed 09/18/2021, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 20th anniversary's celebratory event.
