(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Family Ties" (fb) - BTS) - The young Magda Lehnsherr found herself pregnant of twins. She, however, feared her husband, the mutant known as Magneto, who'd just destroyed a village. Magda fled in terror and made her way to the High Evolutionary's Citadel of Science in Wundagore, where she met the bovine mutate Bova, a midwife.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Family Ties" (fb) - BTS) - Bova and the New Men cared for Magda until she gave birth to two healthy children, Pietro and Wanda. Still fearing for her live, Magda fled, leaving the children in Bova's care. The New Men were able to locate Magda, she, however died soon.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Family Ties" (fb)) - Determined to give the twins a good life, Bova gave them to Django and Marya Maximoff under instructions to raise them as their own children.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Family Ties" - BTS) - Pietro grew up to become the costumed adventurer known as Quicksilver.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Repo Man") - When Jean Grey used Cerebro to search for the missing Charles Xavier she telepathically reached several mutants, amongst them were Quicksilver and his sister the Scarlet Witch, Cannonball, Domino, Nightcrawler, Archangel and Psylocke.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Cold Comfort") - Quicksilver was grafted onto the government-financed mutant team X-Factor alongside Forge, Havok, Multiple Man, Polaris, Strong Guy and Wolfsbane.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Cold Comfort" (fb) - BTS) - When Forge noticed X-Man Jubilee and former X-Man Iceman broke into their training facility he and X-Factor quickly subdued the duo and tied them to chairs. Quicksilver and X-Factor were unaware that Jubilee had joined Iceman in search of his former girlfriend Polaris who'd become a member of X-Factor after being recruited by Forge in Seattle. But when Forge then witnessed the arrival of X-Men Professor X, Beast, Cyclops and Wolverine, in search of Jubilee and Iceman, he decided a friendly little skirmish with the X-Men could teach X-Factor some good pointers.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Cold Comfort") - Just as Beast, Cyclops and Wolverine revealed their presence to Jubilee and Iceman, planning to apprehend the ice-like mutant, Quicksilver and X-Factor revealed their presence. Eager to test their skills against the X-Men, X-Factor immediately attacked the heroes. During a fierce battle Quicksilver was blinded by Jubilee's fireworks but after recovering he created a whirlwind which trapped Jubilee mid-air. It was Jubilee, while stuck in Quicksilver's whirlwind, who took out Havok with her fireworks. This prompted Xavier to command his X-Men to switch targets after which Beast threw Wolfsbane into Quicksilver, leading to X-Factor's defeat. In the end Forge and Polaris appeared, revealing Polaris wasn't truly missing but had joined with X-Factor and fallen in love with Havok, Forge introduced himself and the team to the X-Men. Cyclops and the X-Men expressed they'd be eager for a rematch after which Iceman and the X-Men left the X-Factor's training facility.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Sanctuary - Part II") - Quicksilver and X-Factor were part of the many recipients of a global transmission sent by mutant supremacist Fabian Cortez from Asteroid M. Cortez called for the immediate release of all mutants from captivity and pay restitution for human crimes against them, a feat which the inhabitants of Asteroid M celebrated. Others who viewed the message were the siblings Haven and Monsoon, Externals Gideon and Saul, and US President Robert Kelly. In the end, Magneto destroyed Asteroid M's active warheads, defeated Cortez and in a mighty show of force destroyed Asteroid M.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Xavier Remembers" - BTS) - When a concussion left Charles Xavier's psychic mind open to manipulation, the Shadow King used images of Quicksilver and other friends of Xavier to persuade his adversary to believe he'd reached paradise so he could take possession of Xavier's body.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Family Ties" (fb) - BTS) - Pietro and Wanda learned their father's health was deteriorating and was admitted to a hospital.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Family Ties") - Pietro was present at X-Factor's headquarters, talking with Forge when he was contacted by his sister Wanda who used the X-Factor's override frequencies to get ahold of him. Wanda had received another call from the hospital saying Django's health was getting worse. Determined to see their father, Pietro used X-Factor's Hummingbird craft to get Wanda and made their way over to Django Maximoff.
Pietro and Wanda were in for a shock as their father revealed that although he and Marya had raised them as their children they were in fact not their biological children. Django told the twins of Bova, revealing she could be located in Wundagore.
Determined to learn of their true heritage, Pietro and Wanda made their way to Wundagore Mountain where they met the High Evolutionary. The enigmatic High Evolutionary allowed the twins to enter his Citadel of Science and see Bova lest they had their DNA tested to proof they were the real Maximoff twins, the twins, however, were unaware their DNA would be used in the High Evolutionary's experiments. Proven they were the real twins, Pietro and Wanda visited Bova who revealed their history. Bova "revealed" Magneto had been hunting their mother, leading to her death, Bova, however, didn't reveal he was their real father. Angered by Bova's story, Pietro and Wanda wished to exact their revenge on Magneto.
Seeing an opportunity to get Magneto for his experiments, the High Evolutionary send his Knights of Wundagore to accompany Pietro and Wanda to Magda's grave on Wundagore Mountain where Magneto visited her grave every year. Pietro, Wanda and the Knights of Wundagore attacked and defeated Magneto. But when Magneto was in chains the Knights of Wundagore turned on the twins, capturing them as well. However, just then Wolverine appeared, send by Professor X to keep an eye on Magneto but was also captured by the Knights.
Now imprisoned by the High Evolutionary, he elaborated on his masterplan; combining Wanda's power of probability and Pietro power of speed with Magneto's DNA to create a new powerful race of animal mutates to inhabit the planet. The High Evolutionary continued, revealing Magneto was in fact their father, shocking all present including Magneto who was unaware Magda had been present when she left. Wolverine was then subjected to the new formula, transforming him into a raging beast. However, just then Professor X and Beast of the X-Men arrived, a distraction which allowed Magneto to free himself and the twins. Determined to stop the High Evolutionary, the twins joined forces with Magneto.
Pietro, Wanda, Magneto and the X-Men fought the Knights of Wundagore but were unable to stop the High Evolutionary's Citadel of Science from taking off as the large structure disappeared into the sky. With the High Evolutionary gone, Wolverine and their surroundings returned to normal again. With the threat at hand dealt with, Magneto asked his children if they could build a relationship in time. Pietro, however, was quick to remind their father of what happened to their mother after which the twins took off. Professor X then told Magneto that with time their wounds could heal.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Phalanx Covenant - Part I") - When Earth fell victim to an invasion of the alien techno-organic Phalanx, X-Man Beast informed Forge of the invasion, asking for his help. Planning to meet at a local diner, Forge brought Quicksilver with him to Beast and his new ally, Warlock. Warlock was a Phalanx-creature who'd tried to escape the Phalanx Empire. However, within moments the Phalanx located the heroes and attacked, successfully assimilating Forge's cybernetic leg. Eager to help, Quicksilver went to catch their van, unaware the vehicle had already been assimilated by the Phalanx who then captured the hero trapping him in a techno-organic cocoon. Forge, Beast and Warlock quickly fled and continued their quest to stop the Phalanx.
(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Phalanx Covenant - Part II") - Quicksilver and the other captured mutants were rescued by the combined efforts of Beast, Forge, Mister Sinister, Magneto and Warlock. Quicksilver was presumably reunited with his friends.
(X-Men '97: the Animated Series cartoon - "Tolerance is Extinction - Part III" - BTS) - The United States government discovered that Quicksilver was the son of the mutant terrorist Magneto and documented this information in a file on Magneto. This file was included in the Magneto Protocols, to be utilized in the event that Magneto posed a significant threat to the planet.
(X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Lifedeath - Part I" - BTS) - Forge kept a photograph of his X-Factor team in his home, which included Quicksilver.
(X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon - "Bright Eyes" - BTS) - When the X-Men fought the creator of the Sentinels, Bolivar Trask who'd been turned into a Prime Sentinel, Morph used their shapeshifting abilities to turn into Quicksilver to attack the machine. Trask, however, wasn't affected by his swift punches and easily rendered the shapeshifters unconscious.
(X-Men '97: the Animated Series cartoon - "Tolerance is Extinction - Part III" - BTS) - While the X-Men battled against the Sentinel hybrid Bastion, who posed a dire threat to mutantkind, and Magneto, who had established a new Asteroid M, Charles Xavier employed his telepathic powers to reach Magneto's mindscape. Within Magneto's thoughts, images appeared of Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch, Polaris, and Rogue aboard a ship caught in a fierce storm, symbolizing how the weight of Magneto's past was pulling him under.
(X-Men '97: the Animated Series cartoon - "Tolerance is Extinction - Part III" - BTS) - In the months following the disappearance of the X-Men after saving the planet from Bastion and the downfall of Asteroid M, Forge compiled a list of mutants who could potentially carry on the torch, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were listed as being off world.
Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby;
adapted by Lein Wein and AKOM Productions. (see Appearances list for full list of artists)
Quicksilver was voiced by Paul Haddad in the original animated series.
When asked why Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch were mentioned as being off world in "Tolerance is Extinction - Part III", X-Men '97 writer Beau DeMayo noted episode 6 for the clue. This suggests the brother and sister duo were involved in Operation: Galactic Storm which involves the Avengers intervening in an intergalactic war between the alien Kree and Shi'ar empires. As such the Scarlet Witch of Earth-92131 would most likely be part of the Avengers.
The names of the Knights of Wundagore were revealed in the model sheets published in the amazing book X-Men: The Art and Making of the Animated Series by Eric and Julia Lewald.
When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon.

Hoping to raise a family of their own Django and Marya Maximoff were contacted by Bova who gifted them twins that had been abandoned by their birthmother. Instructed to raise them as their own the twins were named Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.
In time, Pietro and Wanda developed their mutant abilities and left home to pursue a career as superheroes.
Year later, Django fell sick and was placed in a local hospital where he was visited by his children. It was then that Django revealed their true origin which lead the twins to travel to Wundagore in search of their biological birth parents.
