History:
Punisher II#22 (fb) - BTS) - Chester Scully did some
mercenary work, including for the Palestine Liberation Organization
(PLO) and had a friend, Yael Mishiko, in its enemy Israeli intelligence
at an another time. He had gleaned dirty information on half the
mercenaries in the USA. He ran a specialized two-week non-sectarian,
non-aligned military training camp in Kansas that he claimed
specialized in modern-day "ninja" techniques (but really just karate
and guns) and which he lied had received the blessing of a true
Japanese ninja. Scully was assisted by
Daryl (weapons expert) and Wayne (empty hands combat expert). Scully used vicious Tanto as his guard dog. Those
accepted had to be interviewed, usually in a rough bar. Frank Castle
(Punisher), under the assumed name Fred D'Amato, enrolled in the
course, pursuing leads on "Iris Green."
(Punisher II#23 (fb) - BTS)
- Scully's wife trained
women but for unrevealed reasons was no longer around.
(Punisher
II#22) - Punisher met Scully and passed the "interview"; taken to the
remote camp, he met the other students, including cynical journalist
Higganbotham and future antagonist Saracen. Daryl and Wayne gave
the initial instruction, although Punisher downed Wayne with tricked
punches while Scully watched. Punisher later intrigued Scully with a
lie about an emerald heist opportunity. Night training gave the
unimpressed Punisher
the opportunity to investigate Scully's house where he found files on
"Iris Green," but Scully and Daryl had become suspicious and were
investigating. Punisher encountered true ninja Katherine Yakamoto, who sought to punish
Scully for his bogus claim of her father's ninja blessing, but she stealthily escaped. Punisher set
fire to the house as a distraction to flee; meanwhile, Scully rushed
in and retrieved his files. Scully then ordered all trainees be brought
in to the mess hall for interrogation or be killed.
(Punisher II#23) - Scully and his men used hoses to try to put out the fire in vain. With the house completely gone, the three
narrowed the likely suspects to D'Amato (Punisher), Saracen and/or
Higganbotham as they considered them troublemakers, and went hunting to
kill all the trainees. Punisher downed Wayne; Scully teamed with Daryl
and severely wounded Saracen. After Wayne was killed, there was a final
confrontation between Scully and Punisher in a silo, full of
combustible grain. Scully demanded to know why Punisher was after his
files and was ready to carve him with a hunting knife when Yakamoto
appeared. She gave Punisher brief time to leave before she ignited the
grain silo, apparently killing Scully in the process.
