History:

(ArtStation online post by Antonio Demico (fb) - BTS) - The Spinster lived in Versaillles, France during the French Revolution. Using her web-like, prehensile hair, the Spinster became a spy.

(Twitter online post by Antonio Demico) - Adept at lying, the Spinster posed as a noblewoman and made plans to take down the Versailles Court from the inside using her cunning, wit and superhuman powers. While appearing witty during public appearances, the Spinster was less patient in private, at one point wondering who was playing harpsichord at 5am and sarcastically asking herself why they had a death wish. At some point, the Spinster was injured but insisted it was only a scratch and she would be fine.

(ArtStation online post by Antonio Demico/Spider-Verse III#1/3) - The Spinster generated webs made of her hair and used the webs to hear far away conversations by sensing the webs' subtle vibrations.

(Spider-Verse III#6 (fb) - BTS) - The Spinster was recruited alongside several other Multiversal Spider-totems to assist in locating Earth-18119's Spiderling, patternmaker of the Great Web of Life and Destiny.

(Spider-Verse III#6 (fb)) - The Spinster was present when Earth-19166's Spider-Zero located Spiderling tangled within the Great Web.

(Spider-Verse III#6) - The Spinster joined numerous other Spider-totems in converging on the Great Web tangle and assisted with attempts to free up the tangle. When the Great Web responded to the attempts by opening portals to Earth-51778 and unleashing a swarm of Machine Bem Monsters, the Spinster helped keep the monsters at bay while Spider-Zero and Earth-1610's Spider-Man (Miles Morales) freed Spiderling from the Great Web tangle. Spiderling then used her abilities to correct the problems created by the tangle including banishing the Machine Bem Monsters and sending the Spinster and the other Spider-totems back to their home realities.

Comments: Created by Antonio Demico.

The Spinster is one of several Spidersona's who appeared in the back-pages of Spider-Verse (2020). "Spidersona" was a hashtag that launched around the release of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018). Amazed at the talent of creativity of people posting their creations online, Marvel reached out to some of these artists to create new Spidersona art especially for the Spider-Verse (2020) series. Every issue showcased several original pieces of Spidersona art by artists from around the globe after which most appeared in the story as well.

Unlike most Multiversal Spider-totems, it was explicitly explained that the Spinster does not possess superhuman agility. She never displayed superhuman strength, the ability to cling to solid surfaces or a danger-warning Spider-Sense so it seems possible she may not possess those abilities either.

The Spinster's origin was never revealed but it seems likely she was at some point mutated to gain superhuman powers, like most other Spider-totems.

Profile by Proto-Man.
