SUPER-ADAPTOID
Earth-92131

Real Name: Inapplicable

Identity/Class: Alternate Earth (Earth-92131) artificial being

Occupation: Unrevealed

Group Membership: None

Affiliations: presumably Mojo

Enemies: Longshot, X-Men (Beast, Cyclops/Scott Summers, Iceman, Polaris/Lorna Dane)

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: Unrevealed

First Appearance: X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Till Death Do Us Part, Part II" (October 30, 1993)

Powers/Abilities: The Super-Adaptoid's natural state is a blank featureless artificial humanoid form. It can recreate itself as a "pantograph," duplicating some or all of the exact features, powers, and abilities of those who pass within 10 feet of the scanning instruments of its "eyes." The Super-Adaptoid's limit, if any, on template storage is unrevealed, but it certainly displays a preference to default to its first set of templates: Captain America, Hawkeye, Goliath (Pym), Iron Man, and the Wasp.

Height: 10' (larger than its 616 counterpart)
Weight: 350 lbs. (heavier than its 616 counterpart)
Eyes: Black
Hair: None

History:

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Till Death Do Us Part, Part II" - BTS) - The Super-Adaptoid was created by an unrevealed organization (see comments)

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Till Death Do Us Part, Part II" (fb)) - Sometime shortly after the formation of the X-Men, the Super-Adaptoid was seen fighting a young Cyclops.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Cold Comfort" (fb)) - The Super-Adaptoid, having taken a staggering size, attacked an X-Men team consisting of Cyclops, Beast, Iceman and Polaris in the streets. Iceman tried to trap the adaptoid in ice but after breaking free he attacked Polaris, presumably using her powers against her, rendering her unconscious. Iceman quickly came to her rescue. It's been unrevealed how the battle ended.

(X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon - "Mojovision") - The Super-Adaptoid was one of several characters who appeared in a leader for Longshot's solo tv show in the Mojoverse, where he was seen fighting the show's star Longshot (see comments).

Comments: Created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Frank Giacoia;
adapted by Robert Skir, Marty Isenber and AKOM Productions. (see Appearances list for full list of artists)

On Earth-616 the Super-Adaptoid was created by A.I.M, it's likely the same applies to this version although we've never seen an Earth-92131 version of A.I.M.. The Super-Adaptoid's appearances suggests he copied the abilities of the original Avengers, including Captain America, Hawkeye, Goliath, Iron Man and the Wasp. However, Captain America had been trapped in a time vortex fighting the Red Skull at the time as seen in the Spider-Man cartoon "The Six Fight Again" (October 10, 1997) set in the same reality.

It's been unrevealed if both flashbacks featuring the Super-Adaptoid take place at the same time. Although it seems likely the Super-Adaptoid had several run-ins with the mutant teens if could still be the same event af they take place seemingly shortly after the formation of the X-Men judging by the early costumes.

The Super-Adaptoid's second cameo was in the episode "Mojoverse" where she was one of several characters who appeared in a leader for Longshot's tv show, others were the Brood and Psylocke. It's been unrevealed if the Super-Adaptoid traveled to the Mojoverse to film the sequence or if Longshot traveled to Earth to fight the adaptoid.

When, in 2015's Secret Wars, the Multiverse was destroyed following the incursions of planets it appeared as if Reality-92131 was drafted onto Battleworld as the Westchester domain. However, this has since been debunked. As such the reality seen in the two volumes of X-Men '92 (2015 and 2016-2017) now have their own reality-designation of Earth-15730. The X-Men '92: House of XCII (2022) series was inspired by both the animated series and Hickman's House of X run but is its own separate reality. The limited series X-Men '97 (2024), however, is Reality-92131 and bridges the gap between the original X-Men: The Animated Series cartoon and the new X-Men '97: The Animated Series cartoon.
