fast and agile. She can effortlessly grow to approximately 12' in height (it
is unrevealed if this is her usual size). Tiger Jani can instantly
extend sharpened claws that easily slash human tissue and is an
excellent, if somewhat feral hand-to-hand combatant. She has at least
enhanced durability and superhuman strength, and thrives on the energy
and flesh of mystically powered humans, but also eats base humans.
Tiger Jani is also an excellent strategist.
Height:
Variable (approximately 5'6" to 12')
Weight: Unrevealed
Eyes: Green (glow)
Hair: Charcoal gray
History:
(Immortal Iron Fist I#15 (fb) - BTS) - The fearsome
Tiger Jani had become a long local ghost story in Burma, used to scare
off unwelcome loners after midnight, She ate humans as snacks but
relished mystical energies. She killed and ate the poet-emperor Bahadur
Shah Zafar II. She learned of his mystically powered protector Brahman,
as well as Iron Fist (Bei Bang-Wen), but she did not realize that they
had both had been severed from their mystical energy sources and
effectively lost their powers. She organized to have the duo meet in a
hard labor prison with word that the poet-emperor was in exile to lure
the duo on a quest and excite their mystical energies. She lay in wait
in a fortress with armed British guards.
(Immortal
Iron Fist I#15) - The depowered duo stealthily breached the fortress
and Tiger Jani was disappointed that they no longer wielded mystical
energies. She quickly slashed at them but once Visvajit learned that
his lord emperor was dead, his mystical connection was renewed and he
transformed into the powerful giant Brahman. Growing tall herself,
Tiger Jani ripped a mortal wound in Bei, which steeled Brahman's attack
and he pounded her head into the stone floor, apparently killing her.
Comments: Created by Matt Fraction, Khari Evans, Victor Olazaban.
It's not fully revealed what she is; demon, malignant
spirit, etc. But it seems demon is the safest bet; she refers initially
to herself as "we," suggesting possession.
Given her heightened durability, it's possible that
she survived the fierce fight with Brahman... but with no further
sightings, I think she's gone for good.
Burma was completely held by British colonial rule by the end of 1885 after three wars to snare local resources. If this story took place in the 1860s, then it was likely in British-held Lower and Middle Burma, as Upper Burma was still free at that time.
