History:
(S.W.O.R.D.
I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Tinas IV was scoured clean in an old war between at
least two unidentified races, leaving it essentially a dead world.
An unidentified pilot -- presumably a member of the race that ultimately lost the war -- possessing some sort of headband/circlet (allegedly an "Imperial family knick-knack" for the losers) was shot down and crashed on the surface of Tinas IV.
The victors of this war kept Tinas IV as an unliving memorial. Beings were allowed to go and study Tinas IV, but nothing was allowed to leave.
(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 (fb) - BTS / S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - The losers hired Lothi for "an enormous amount of money" to obtain a "bauble of some import" (the headband/circlet) from Tinas IV.
(S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb)) - Taking a job on Tinas IV, Lothi found and claimed the artifact on the head of a deceased ship pilot.
(S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Lothi hid the artifact within a "bespoke smuggling cavity" within his body.
(S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Lothi's theft was detected by the victors of the war on Tinas IV.
(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 (fb) - BTS / S.W.O.R.D. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - The victors hired the soon-to-be-freelance-peacekeeping-agent Death's Head to kill Lothi and to return the stolen artifact.
(S.W.O.R.D. I#1 (fb) - BTS) - Fleeing from Death's Head, Lothi approached S.W.O.R.D.'s Peak station and requested sanctuary. Lothi denied possession of the artifact.
(S.W.O.R.D. I#2 - BTS) - Following conflicts with Death's Head, Unit exposed Lothi's duplicity, after which Lothi detailed the nature of the theft and produced the artifact. Brand offered Death's Head the artifact in exchange for ignoring the debts caused by damage to each other's spacecraft and letting Lothi go, and Death's Head accepted.Brand gave the artifact to Beast and told him to get it to Death's Head.
Beast presumably delivered the artifact to Death's Head who presumably returned it to his employers (the victors).
Comments: Created by Kierron Gillen, Steven Sanders, and Craig Yeung.
How old was the war, and when did it finish? Ten years? A hundred years? Thousands of years ago? A skeleton was largely preserved, so apparently not long enough for it to have disintegrated, although it was contained in a ship.
A planet, planetoid, or moon with Saturn-like rings and a large chunk of its "north pole" missing is clearly visible, and its relative size indicates some proximity, most likely indicating it to be a moon, although I don't know if moons can support/sustain rings like that.

I#2 (fb) - BTS) - An unidentified race lost an old war on Tinas IV.. The victors of this war kept Tinas IV as an unliving memorial. Beings were allowed to go and study Tinas IV, but nothing was allowed to leave. I#2 (fb) - BTS) - Lothi obtained the artifact, but the victors of the war discovered this and dispatched Death's Head to obtain this, and he -- with both interference and aid from S.W.O.R.D. and Abigail Brand -- recovered the artifact. --S.W.O.R.D. I#1 - BTSNote: Unless the losers of the war on Tinas IV are a race we already know from somewhere, the two images showing the crashed ship and the pilot's skeleton are all we have to go on -- and we don't know for certain that the skeleton belongs to a member of the losers' race...it could have been an agent transporting the artifact, or it could be someone who stole it and was shot down by the losers, the victors, or maybe someone else. From the skeleton/skull, we see apparently two eyes and some sort of nasal structure. I would ASSume that the larger central hole toward the top of the skull is some sort of bullet or blaster whole, but it is also possible that the beings had three eyes, or some other sort of blow hole, horn or something. It would also appear that they have separating hemi-mandibles, like an ant, with the lower jaw coming together with what appears to be teeth. Although they lost the war on Tinas IV, we don't know that they were native or that they originated or colonized Tinas IV...only that they fought and lost a war on Tinas IV. An unidentified number of this race survived, with some of them hiring Lothi to retrieve the unidentified artifact. |
