History:
(Night Nurse#2 (fb) - BTS) - At Metropolitan General
Hospital, Dr. Jack Tryon was made resident to respected surgeon Dr.
William Sutton, who had been secretly making fraudulent and excessive
prescription drug and equipment requisitions for personal use and money.
(Night Nurse#2) - Sutton's assistant, nurse Christine
Palmer, naively tried to cover up her boss' indiscretions when her
friend nurse Linda Carter saw the falsified records. Palmer dodged the
confrontation with Carter as Tryon entered by suggesting that he and
Carter take a
coffee break. Tryon confided to Carter that others had noted
inconsistencies when
dealing with Sutton. Tryon encouraged Carter to help investigate and
they went to Sutton's townhouse the next day to confront him
personally. Left to wait by Sutton's butler, the duo casually looked
around and found prescription drugs, excessive alcohol and a repair
bill for a car involved in a hit-and-run. Shocked, they left
immediately to see Palmer and were told a car victim had just died
after bungled surgery by a drunk Sutton. A quick inquest was organized
by the hospital and Palmer, Carter and Tryon were there to hear Sutton
angrily dismiss malpractice accusations, but overwhelming evidence led
to Sutton's arrest. Tryon walked Carter home.
(Night Nurse#3) - Linda Carter bumped into Jack Tryon
at a department store doing last-minute Christmas shopping. They shared
a taxi back to the hospital as both were on duty that night. Tryon met
Carter's friend Georgia Jenkins at the informal staff Christmas party
in the cafeteria, but was missing Carter. Later, Jenkins frantically
reached Tryon when hitman "Scar" Bronson targeted mob boss and patient
Victor Sloan, who was being protected by Carter. Tryon stormed into the
room and, with Carter's help, overpowered Bronson. Tryon and Carter
found and released cranky senior nurse Brundage, who had been tied up
by Bronson, and then tended to patient Sloan.
Comments: Created by Jean Thomas & Winslow Mortimer.
It seems fairly clear that Jack Tryon was intended to be a romantic interest for Linda Carter, but the series' short run put a stop to that.
