History: Nothing is known about the creation of the Living Room.

(MCP#130/4) - Baron Strucker threatened Iron Fist and the Hsu siblings with the Living Room. They didn't know what it was and Doug even made some funny remarks about HYDRA forcing them to watch bad movies like Mystery Science Theater 3000. HYDRA agents brought them to the gigantic creature and after an agent opened the wall of the being with a laser, they threw in the incompetent agent that was overpowered by Doug. The Living Room consumed the agent. Iron Fist, Lillian and Doug were forced to go into the Living Room and Iron Fist fought off the pseudopods inside. He explained to his friends how single-celled organisms work and searched for the nucleus (seen on the left). Doug got it down from the ceiling of the Living Room with the help of Iron Fist, who chopped it into two halves. Now the Living Room began to part itself into two new organisms. Iron Fist, Lillian and Doug were now able to flee through the crack and the two Living Rooms began to consume agents of HYDRA. They tried to stop the moving creatures with a containment wall. The wall hit some agents and not the Living Rooms. Iron Fist, Lillian and Doug were able to get away from the creatures.

(MCP#131/4) - One of the spawns of the Living Room grabbed an agent that was killed by a containment wall; Iron Fist watched it and saw a chance for himself and his friends to take advantage of the chaos caused by the creatures. He boosted the containment wall up and the Living Rooms broke through and attacked Strucker and his agents while Iron Fist got away with Lillian, Doug and the Anomalies.

Comments: Created by Joey Cavalieri, Dave Hoover & Jeff Albrecht

The creator of this thing had to be some freaky scientist associated with HYDRA. I think Arnim Zola got another check for the creation of this thing from his old friend Strucker. It wasn't said in the story, but just the nature of this thing points directly towards him.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 was a TV-Series where a man and two robots trapped on an Earth-orbiting space station were forced to watch the worst movies ever conceived. It ran from 1988 to 1999. The series also had some specials and even a trashy movie was made in 1996.

Speaking about trashy movies...if somebody wants to know how a creature like the Living Room digests its food, watch the 1998 movie "Deep Rising" (sometimes referred to as "Octalus") directed by Stephen Sommers.

Clarifications:

Living Room has no known connection to

Spawns of the Living Room

They were the children of the original Living Room. Their creation began after Iron Fist split the nucleus of the original Living Room. Their numbers rose fast afterwards and they were extremely hungry and ate many agents of HYDRA.
