History:
(Marvel Comics Presents I#122/4 (fb) ) - Shadow Wing became the new Lord of the Bane some time after Grace betrayed them by becoming a member of the Knights of Pendragon. For years he worked on the manufacturing of the Seeds of Winter spell. As part of this spell he created crop circles in southern Britain as a trap for the Knights of Pendragon.
(Marvel Comics Presents I#122/4) - Shadow Wing appeared when the Knights of Pendragon were investigating the crop circles. He trapped them inside a mystic field and explained them that they were caught in the Seeds of Winter spell that only needed the blood of Pendragons to be finished. Afterwards the land they loved would be poisoned forever. Albion attacked Shadow Wing and failed, as did as Grace and Union Jack. Crown didn't attack Shadow Wing himself, who angrily threw his halberd at the hero. Crown caught the halberd and used it to shatter the crop circle. Shadow Wing's spell was broken and the villain retreated through the shadowy mist he came from. His halberd turned back to wheat which crumbled to dust and the Knights of Pendragon hoped that this was the last time they heard anything from the Seeds of Winter. Meanwhile Shadow Wing had returned to his office in the HQ of the Vetraseed Corporation. He transformed back to his human form and was really angry that the Knights of Pendragon had stopped him from completing the spell. Years of work were ruined and Shadow Wing knew that his masters would be displeased, especially with the interference of the Knights of Pendragon. But Shadow Wing didn't despair, because he had all the resources he needed to do it again.

I don't know if the Vetraseed Corporation was just trading with seeds. Sure they were manipulating the seeds somehow, but it could've been that the corporation was known just for that: Genetic manipulation or cultivation of seed.
Shadow Wing's real name was revealed in Marvel Atlas#1.
