History:
(Epic Illustrated#8 (fb) - BTS) - Kalloombrians built a temple on Dreamsend.
(Epic
Illustrated#8 (fb) - BTS) - Eventually, the marauding Zygoteans came to
Dreamsend. Rather than oppose this virtually unstoppable force, the
Kalloombrians moved to another sector of space.
(Epic Illustrated#1/7 (fb) / Epic Illustrated#4/2 (fb) - BTS / Epic Illustrated#8 (fb) - BTS) <Over 100,000 years ago> - After viewing the future and seeing the successful resolution of his goals, destroying the entire galaxy to end the Zygoteans' threat, Aknaton constructed an artificial immortal being, Joenis Soule, to hide the Infinity Horn (see comments) on a far-off, barren world the Zygoteans would probably not bother, and not reveal its location until a certain verse was recited to him by an Orsirosian on the planet Delloran.
(Epic Illustrated#8 (fb) - BTS) - Within the Kalloombrian Temple on Dreamsend (see comments),
Aknaton created or cast a spell to allow him to open a hole in the
floor, allowing access to a set of steps, actually a multidimensional
corridor that led to his Hall of Death and Mercy. Within the Hall of
Death and Mercy, which was on a plane of existence that allowed the
appropriate meshing of the laws of science and magic, he hid the
Infinity Horn, a weapon designed to destroy the entire galaxy in order
to stop the Zygoteans.
Not having foreseen any attacker, Zygoteans or
otherwise, during his visions, Aknaton sealed the entrance to the Hall
of Death and Mercy, designing it to only open on his command so that no
one could get there before him; but it did not occur to him to
establish a means to
reseal either.
(Epic
Illustrated#4/2) - Aknaton obtained Joenis Soule's amulet, which contained the location of the Infinity Horn.
(Epic Illustrated#6/6) - Following a mystic spell and communion with his god, Ra, Aknaton gained the knowledge that the Infinity Horn awaited him in a subterranean temple on the world Dreamsend.
(Epic Illustrated#7/7) - Aknaton punched the coordinates into the Lightcutter and he, and his agents, Vanth, Juliet, Whis'par, and Za, departed to their last stop, the planet Dreamsend.
(Epic Illustrated#8/6 (fb) - BTS)
- Zygoteans arrived at Dreamsend in advance of Aknaton's group. They
had a pair of warships stationed in the planet's vicinity, and a small
number of ground troops on the surface.
(Epic Illustrated#8/6) - As the Light Cutter approached, Vanth took out the two Zygotean warships.
(Epic Illustrated#8/6 (fb) - BTS) - Prior to their construction, the Zygoteans signaled additional troops to come to Dreamsend.
(Epic Illustrated#8/6) - Aknaton worried as he had not seen Zygoteans on Dreamsend in any of his visions of the future. Vanth wondered if the Zygoteans might have captured the Infinity Horn, but Aknaton considered this unlikely due it being cleverly concealed within the nearly indestructible Kalloombrian Temple. He further doubted the Zygoteans were even aware of the Horn's existence, noting that they probably figured this was another of Orsiros' holy shrines that were located throughout the galaxy. Concluding that if the Zygoteans suspected otherwise, they would have more than these reserve troops on the surface waiting for them. Nonetheless, he urged haste, and he, Vanth, Whis'par, and Za took out the ground troops.
However, Za then noted as more Zygotean fighters were arriving. Vanth asked if they should head back to the Light Cutter, but Aknaton insisted they had come too far to turn back now, and that they should head for the temple, which would shelter them from the Zygoteans' fire.
As they reached the temple,
Whis'par noted that it had no door, but Aknaton then activated the
opening in the floor and urged the others to quickly follow him down
the stairs. Whis'par wondered why they didn't close the floor behind
them, but Aknaton explained that he hadn't appreciated the need to do
so as his visions had not shown Zygoteans or anyone pursuing them.
When Vanth commented that the
stairs seemed to go on forever, Aknaton explained that they did, in a
way, as it was a multi-dimensional corridor of his own design that
would lead them to a plane of existence which would allow them to do
what must be done: The Infinity Horn worked on contradicting laws of
science and sorcery which only meshed properly in a place such as this,
and the corridor would transmit the Horn's effects back to their
reality.
As they reached the bottom of the
stairs, Aknaton announced they were approaching the other side of
Dreamsend's corridor, the mystic heart of the galaxy, and he showed
them the path to his Hall of Death and Mercy.
(Epic Illustrated#8/6 - BTS) - Zygoteans rushed into the temple and down the stairs.
(Epic Illustrated#8/6) -
As Vanth heard the Zygoteans approaching, Aknaton instructed the others
to stand back as he opened the Hall to them, another of the doors he
never planned to have to close. Aknaton then showed Juliet, Whis'par,
and Za the Infinity Horn, while Vanth waited outside in preparation of
the approaching Zygoteans.
(Epic Illustrated#8/6 (fb) - BTS) - A pair of Zygotean scouts stuck their heads out of the doorway at the bottom of the stairs/corridor, and Vanth slew them.
(Epic Illustrated#8/6) - After
reassuring the trio of their destiny as the building blocks of the
future, Aknaton departed the Hall and rejoined Vanth outside. As they
prepared for the Zygoteans to rush them en masse, Vanth considered that
while the other three were tomorrow's hope, he and Aknaton were
yesterday's mistakes. Aknaton lamented that there was no other way, and
Vanth noted that he wasn't certain that was the case, but figured it
was too late to talk alternatives.
Aknaton instructed Vanth to stay close by his side as he would have one final task for him when this was over.
And then the Zygoteans and their mercenaries rushed in en masse.
(Epic Illustrated#9) - Realizing what was happening and fighting for their lives, the Zygotean mercenaries drove Aknaton and Vanth back and blew off Aknaton's right arm at the elbow.
As the cosmic forces came into alignment, Juliet,
Whis'par, and Za blew the Infinity Horn.
The
Horn accessed and unleashed the energies from the 15th dimension of
mystical existence, the realm of a being of omnipotent force and many
names: And the energy erupted forth, destroying the Hall of Death
and Mercy before exploding out the corridor, annihilating the Temple
and Dreamsend in the same second, and swiftly spreading forth: The
entire Milky Way was destroyed.
The energies released, plus Aknaton's spells, enabled Juliet, Whis'par, and Za to survive as "something wondrous...a new species of being that the stars had never before seen...escaping the weakness of the flesh and becoming beings of pure thought and energy" and departed for parts unrevealed.
(Epic Illustrated#9/2 (fb)) - As the energies surrounded them, Aknaton pulled Vanth to his side. Aknaton indirectly tapped into the power of the Infinite and created a mystical sphere -- mostly from condensed light particles -- to protect himself and Vanth from the forces being unleashed, as well as placing them into a deep state of suspended animation.
(Epic Illustrated#9/2 (fb) - BTS) - One million years later, the former site of the Milky Way galaxy was known as "the Dark Sector."

I'm not quite sure how Aknaton's
story works out...he describes creating the means to open the portal in
Dreamsend's floor, but he also notes that Soule hid the Infinity Horn
on a secret location and that he only recently learned its location via
Soule's key.
I would think Aknaton created or otherwise accessed
his Hall of Death and Mercy (and/or the realm it contained) and the
portal to that realm, and hid the Infinity Horn in the Hall, but then
had Soule create/place the access point to the stairs/dimensional
corridor to his Hall within a secret location. Or, perhaps, something
else...?
Was it called Dreamsend originally? Did the Kalloombrians name it that? Were they it's original and/or first inhabitants?
We don't know. We just don't know anything about it's
origins, other properties, and other history beyond what's included in
the history above. We pretty much don't know anything beyond it's ultimate fate.
All we saw outside of the Temple was some rocky, desert-like landscape.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Dreamsend has no known connections to:
The Kalloombrians were an
ancient (possibly pre-dating the Orsirosians) non-human race that
constructed a temple on the world known as Dreamsend.
Over 100,000 years ago, when the Zygoteans attacked them, the Kalloombrians moved from that sector of space.
--(Mentioned only) Epic Illustrated#8
Note: We don't know whether Dreamsend was the initial homeworld of the Kalloombrians, or whether some or all of them colonized the world and built the temple. We don't even know that the world was known as Dreamsend when they lived there.
We also don't know where they went or what they did after leaving
Dreamsend...and/or if the Zygoteans ever encountered them again.
Unless the Kalloombrians exited
the Milky Way galaxy, if they still existed at the time the Infinity
Horn was blown, they would have been destroyed by the energies released
by the Horn's activation.
(Epic Illustrated#8 (fb) - BTS) - Kalloombrians built a nearly indestrutible temple on Dreamsend.
(Epic Illustrated#8 (fb) - BTS) - When the Zygoteans attacked Dreamsend, the Kalloombrians departed.

Aknaton sealed the entrance to the Hall
of Death and Mercy, designing it to open on his command

explained that the Infinity Horn was concealed within the Kalloombrian
Temple.
