LEIGH
(see comments)
Real Name: Unrevealed; possibly Leigh
Identity/Class: Earth-based extraterrestrial (Kree)
Occupation: Unrevealed;
high school student when last seen (which would amount to 3-4 years ago, Marvel Time)
Group Membership: None revealed;
unrevealed connection to other local Kree
Affiliations: B-Sides (Fateball/Laura Broadbahr, Jughandle/Jesse Metuchen, Mize/Stuart Welles); (at least formerly) unidentified skrull boyfriend;
unrevealed connection to other local Kree
Enemies: Local skrulls (specifically the group that assaulted her at what looked like a school playground, but, to a lesser degree, the skrulls who mocked her dad and the skrulls who tried to rescue those skrulls)
Known Relatives: Unidentified father
Aliases: None
Base of Operations: Her father's house on main street in Raven's Perch, New Jersey
First Appearance: B-Sides#1 (November, 2002)
Powers/Abilities: Leigh did not demonstrate
any particular superhuman abilities, but as she was Kree, she would
presumably have the standard abilities of the Kree race (see comments).
Kree bodies are denser and
more durable than those of normal humans, making them about twice as
strong, though Pink (aka White) Kree have a greater range of
differences in these areas than Blue Kree do.
Kree have duplicates of several internal organs.
The Kree’s native
environment has a much higher gravity and higher nitrogen-to-oxygen air
content as compared to Earth’s native environment, and the Kree
originally could not survive in high-oxygen environments without
special breathing potions and devices.
Some Kree women can psychically manipulate the desires of men, with one in 100,000 of these women able to drain another’s life force completely. In recent years, such Kree girls were forced to undergo surgical procedures to eradicate this ability completely, with techno-organic “bloodhounds” used to hunt down any female who reached adulthood with her psychic abilities intact.
Height: Unrevealed (approximately 5'6"; she's
not shown next to anyone of known height; she's a few inches shorter
than Mize, who is the tallest of the B-Sides)
Weight: Unrevealed (approximately 125 lbs.)
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black
History:
(B-Sides#1 (fb) - BTS) - Leigh lived in a house on the main street of Raven's Perch, New Jersey with her father.
(B-Sides#1) - Attracted to a local skrull
similarly posing as human, the 16-year-old Leigh encouraged him to come into her home
as her father wasn't there. While the skrull was worried how Leigh's
dad felt about "his kind" (see comments), Leigh told him her dad was going to have to get used to it eventually, but regardless, he wouldn't be home for hours.
(B-Sides#1 - BTS) - A short time later, as Leigh's father arrived home early, Jughandle watched secretly and amusedly.
(B-Sides#1) - Amidst a makeout session, Leigh mockingly acknowledged that her father probably would kill him (her boyfriend) when he got home, and she asked if he wasn't willing to die for her.
Just then, Leigh's father arrived home, and he
slammed open the door to Leigh's bedroom, noting, "By the Supreme
Intelligence! I knew it!"
While Leigh assured her dad that nothing had happened and that she was just showing him her room, Jughandle (unseen and unheard) noted, "If by 'nothing happened' you mean 'second base!'"
Furious at Leigh's letting "his kind" darken his
door, her father asked if Leigh thought he was an idiot. Slamming the
boy into the wall, Leigh's father noted that they did not allow idiots
to become soldiers and that a soldier did not allow a shapeshifter into
his home, a fact punctuated by the stunned youth reverting to his
skrull form.
As Leigh's father grabbed a trophy and approached
the young boy, Leigh argued that they were in love, her father turned
and threatened to bludgeon Leigh.
Jughandle then materialized and shoved Leigh's father to the ground. As Leigh worried about her father, her boyfriend noted that he loved her, too, but they had to flee.
(B-Sides#1 - BTS) - After Leigh's departure, her stunned father recognized Jughandle and told him he knew him and his father, at which point Jughandle escaped through a time warp back to his own house.
(B-Sides#1 (fb) - BTS) - Leigh's father called Jughandle's father, complaining about his son's invasion into his daughter's room.
(B-Sides#1 - BTS) - Jughandle's father attempted to calm Leigh's father, asking him to come to his office the next day. Jughandle's father than criticized him over the scandal of using his powers to spy on a 16-year-old girl in her room.
(B-Sides#3 - BTS) - A pair of Skrull youths at the Chip 'N Sip taunted and confronted Leigh's father, revealing themselves to be Skrulls.
(B-Sides#3 (fb) - BTS) - Leigh's father apparently trapped the Skrulls in cat form and put them in a microwave.
(B-Sides#3 (fb) - BTS) - Upset about her father's activities, Leigh went to see her boyfriend. However, some of his Skrull brethren recognized her as a Kree and threatened her. Unwilling to reveal their relationship for fear of being considered the worst kind of race traitor, Leigh's boyfriend instead rushed off to seek help.
(B-Sides#3 - BTS) - Word of this reached the
B-Sides as they were meeting with the Fantastic Four, and Jughandle
noted that the cats were likely shapeshifters.
As a trio of skrulls approached the Chip 'N Sip's
back entry and took mouse form with the plan to sneak in and ambush the
owner, they were then confronted by a quartet of Kree teens with wooden
sticks.
As the FF and B-Sides approached the Chip 'N Sip, one of the skrulls, in the form of a lion, was sent flying into the B-Sides' van. As it recovered, transformed into a rhinoceros and rushed back to the conflict, the Fantastic Four followed it back to the Kree-Skrull gang war, and they subdued the combatants.
Leigh's boyfriend approached Jughandle and his
teammates, revealing the situation and his and Leigh's alien nature,
and begging their help.
(B-Sides#3) - Leigh begged the trio of skrulls to quit abusing her (apparently shoving her against a fence), and then the B-Sides arrived, took the down the skrulls, and freed Leigh.
(B-Sides#3 - BTS) - Jughandle then called Leigh's father, telling him to surrender and let the "cats" go or he would announce on the news that Leigh was dating a shapeshifter. He further warned Leigh's father that if he ever laid another hand on her, he (Jughandle) would make him wish he had never seen Earth. Accepting the deal, Leigh's father noted in regards to the latter threat, "Too late."
Leigh's father let the cats outside, and they
reverted to their true form and fled, while he exited the Chip 'N Sip
and awaited the authorities.
Comments: Created by Brian David-Marshall and Brett Weldele.
Does Leigh have the standard Kree superhuman powers?
Presumably Leigh has a mother, and, considering Leigh's
father behavior, it seem unlikely that her mother would be non-Kree,
but perhaps his own...dalliance...with a member of another race is what led to his own beliefs (although they were consistent with most Kree, at least prior to the Kree-Skrull alliance).
If Leigh were half-Kree, half-human it might explain her lack of Kree
strength, etc., although, she may just be opposed to violence, and
while the Skrulls' assaults did not hurt her, she refused to use her
strength against them.
Being rasied (and possibly born) on a relatively lower-gravity planet like Earth, Leigh may have lacked her race's normal strength.
Leigh
obviously didn't wear any sort of breathing apparatus, so perhaps she
took a regular treatment that allowed her to breathe Earth's
atmosphere.
At 16 years old, Leigh would certainly have been old enough to possess the male-psychic-manipulation ability that some Kree women possessed. However, she did not demonstrate any abilities to manipulate males any different than what the average human woman possesses.
Pureblood Kree have blue skin. Leigh has the skin color of "pink" or
"white" Kree, which are typically hybrids resulting from matings with
other races. However, she could have been using chemicals, holograms,
or other means to appear to be "pink."
When did Leigh come to Earth?
She was apparently 16-years-old in the main story, and nothing was revealed of her past.
Was she born on Earth?
Was she conceived on Earth?
Was she born elsewhere and brought to Earth?
And, if so, how old was she when she arrived on Earth?
Initially, it appeared as if Leigh was a girl with a punk boyfriend, and it seemed that Leigh's dad was a stereotypical father who didn't approve of his daughter's boyfriend...but, obviously he was just an intergalactic racist.
I had Leigh listed as Leigh the Kree, but I guess that's just how I recorded her in my notes, as I don't think it's in the story at all. I don't know what would be a good name for her boyfriend the skrull...Tull...Cull...Bull...Lowell...Frank? Frank's a nice name.
What a pain in the Bee-hind this profile was with no one but Leigh and the B-Sides getting names. Brian David-Marshall needs to watch the Schoolhouse Rock video about pronouns. It doesn't teach anything about the value of having real names; in fact, it discusses the value of being able to use pronouns to shorten things, especially when people have long names, like "Rufus Xavier Sasparilla"...but, it's a great video anyway. I named one of my dogs "Rainman Xavier Sasparilla" after that video (and, of course, after the movie "Rainman")...and then I later added the last name "Bojangles," because Bojangles is an awesome name. While none of that is really relevent, I wish Brian David-Marshall had provided real names in-story for these characters.
As far as I could tell, there was no discussion of the how, when , why, etc. of there being groups of Kree and Skrulls in Raven's Perch.
This profile was completed 03/05/2021, but its publication was delayed as it was intended for the Appendix 20th anniversary 's celebratory event.

Four apparently teenaged Kree were among the Kree population living in Raven's Perch, New Jersey. They used chains and wooden sticks in battle. Pureblood Kree have blue skin. These two Skrulls were among the Skrull population living in Raven's Perch, New Jersey. They apparently knew
that Leigh's father was a Kree (and as other local Skrulls knew that
Leigh was Kree, they presumably knew, too), and that his daughter was
dating a Skrull (or, at least that she was dating an alien); however,
none of the Skrulls apparently knew whose Leigh boyfriend was (they didn't recognize the character referred to in this profile as "Leigh's boyfriend" as the guy dating Leigh; see comments) (B-Sides#3
- BTS) - A pair of Skrull youths at
the Chip 'N Sip taunted and confronted Leigh's father, about his
daughter being with an alien, with a series of "says what" jokes, like
"ifyourdaughtersleepswithaliens, say what?" When confronted them, they revealed themselves to be Skrulls.
